A one day certification training program on Good Clinical Practice was conducted at Shija Hospitals today with faculty from JSS Medical College and CDSA. It was organized by Quality Department of Shija Hospitals. It was conducted to train various stakeholders on ethical and legal considerations, rules and regulations, functioning of ethics committee, regulatory boards and their duties etc. It was attended by participants from Shija Hospitals and various other institutes including JNIMS, Raj Medicity, Mother’s Care Children Hospital & Research Institute, Women and Youth for Peace & Development, Manipur High Court and other individuals from NGOs and Legal background.

Dr. Pratibha Pereira from JSS Medical College Who was a faculty at the training program. She is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine JSS Medical College, Mysuru. She has been instrumental in the development of standards for accreditations of ethics committee, NABH. Dr. Pereira chairs the Technical Committee of NABH for the accreditations of ethics committee. She is the Principal Assessor of NABH for the accreditations of ethics committee Dr. Pereira has several publications in reputed national & international journals to her credit.

Dr. Sucheta Banerjee Kurundkar Who was the other faculty for today’s program has joined CDSA as Director Training in 2012. She has ~20 years of experience in various capacities in research and CRO Industry. Sucheta has worked for several years in the area of quality assurance, pre-clinical, clinical and medical laboratories. She is passionate about quality and training in health care. Sucheta is a GLP (WHO) Trainer, GCP and GCLP Trainer; Auditor for NABL (ISO 15189 & ISO 17025); She is a visiting faculty to BIS, and an International Program Committee Member of IIM Ahmedabad. Sucheta has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Pune and her doctoral work on a novel inhibitor received recognition at the World Congress on Insulin Resistance Diabetes & Cardiovascular Research, USA. She has an MBA with specialization in Total Quality Management from Sikkim Manipal University. Professionally trained in ‘Management of Training’ from the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management, DOPT, New Delhi, she has been zealously involved in the conduct of more than 100 training programs across ~50 cities involving ~6000 participants, ~1700 institutions and ~900 faculty members. Sucheta has completed the Management Development Program (Advanced Quality Management) from IIM, Ahmedabad. She is reviewer to ten international journals of repute and is the recipient of the CSIR International Travel Award (2010). She is involved in India’s first Comprehensive National Nutritional Survey (CNNS) by UNICEF as a Team Leader for monitoring of biological samples. She is the NABH Assessor for Ethics Committee Accreditation (Clinical Trial). Sucheta is an Advisory Group Member and Faculty of NIE-ICMR-WHO online ethics course. She actively contributes in the Regulatory Science and Policy Unit of CDSA.
