Glaucoma is a silent killer of vision. It produces no symptoms in most of the patients. Increased pressure inside the eye can lead to gradual death of the nerve fibres in the optic nerve. In early stage it causes loss of field of vision which may not be noticed by patient. It cannot be reversed in late stages.
So, early detection and treatment is very important in case of Glaucoma to prevent the patient becoming totally blind.
Facilities available for Glaucoma detection:
We provide services for corneal ulcer treatment, keratoconus management, chemical injury management and trauma management. Keratoplasty, therapeutic keratectomy & Eye Bank under process. Amniotic membrance grafting etc...
Refractive Surgery is also done at our hospital. Anyone requiring removal of glasses for cosmetic or functional purposes can undergo ICL implant to attain spectacle freedom. At present this procedure is considered the safest procedure for refractive surgery. It also has the charm of being reversible unlike other ablative procedures.
Corneal topography for screening of corneal pathology including keratoconus and refractive surgery.
Facilities available:
All the diabetic patients who are diabetic for more than five years are more prone to develop retinal damage known as diabetic retinopathy. Once vision is lost due to Diabetic retinopathy it cannot be recovered. If diabetic retinopathy is detected in early stage its progression and visual deterioration can be arrested by laser photocoagulation. So all patients with more than 5 years diabetic history needs yearly retinal examination to find and treat early diabetic changes.
State of the art management of cataract which has now become the gold standard key hole surgery which is done through a 2.2mm or 2.8 mm incision.
Cataract is liquefied and removed through a small incision of a needle prick and a very thin foldable lens can be injected through the same wound. We have both the most advanced phacoemulsification systems available in the world with capacity for MICS and rollable IOL’s.
The regular intra ocular lenses are rigid lens which needs a bigger wound for its introduction into the eye, whereas foldable lens are made up of flexible material which can be folded and injected through a smaller incision.
We ensure that the best possible foldable IOL is implanted to provide quality vision to all the patients. Premium IOLs such as toric and multifocal IOLs are also implanted on regular basis
Pediatric Ophthalmology deals with vision screening for kids, and common problems that can affect your children’s eyes and their vision, such as strabismus, amblyopia, glaucoma, dacryostenosis, and cataract. Some common problems, like corneal abrasions, allergic conjunctivitis, double vision, blocked tear ducts, retinopathy of prematurity, and exotropia are being diagnosed and treated.
Squint is a misalignment of the eye. This could be present at birth or may occur later in life, even as adults. Squint, also known as cross eyes, is the condition where the eyes do not work together.
The centre is manned by experienced Paediatric Ophthalmologists.
Treatment includes glasses, eye exercises or eye muscle surgery. Hence any child with a squint or adult with a sudden onset of squint or double vision needs to have their eyes checked by an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. Squint angle is estimated properly and squint correction surgery is performed.
Cataract (opacification of the lens) can occur in children. This may be present since birth or as a result from injury. The treatment for this condition is slightly different in pediatric cases and involves surgical procedures which is more intricate and can be done only by a trained surgeon.
